“Yes I said yes I will Yes.”
James Joyce(1922)
One day in Dublin, June 16, 1904. Leopold Bloom, advertising canvasser, wanders the city while his wife Molly entertains her lover at home. Stephen Dedalus, young artist, teaches school, drinks, broods on his dead mother. Their paths converge late at night. Joyce spent seven years on the novel, drawing on Homer, on every technique available to prose fiction, and on the inexhaustible particulars of Dublin life. It was banned, smuggled, pirated, and eventually recognized as the novel of the century. The final word is yes.
