The book box

A book a month, by post.

The classic the app is reading along in that month, the Penguin Classics edition, in a parcel packed by hand in London. £25 a month, UK postage in. Open the parcel and you are in the cohort.

  • The month’s classic, the Penguin Classics edition, in a rigid mailer.
  • Wrapped in our tissue and sealed rather than taped.
  • An ex libris stamp pressed into the title page, with a line for your name.
  • A bookmark embossed with the mark, made for us by Mount Street Printers in London.
  • A postcard of the book’s own sky, the painted scene the app opens on.
  • A short letter from Henry about the book and the month.

A lovely thing to give: three, six or twelve months as a gift. Have a code? Redeem it.

Reserve a book box

The first book boxes go out in time for Christmas. £25 a month. Leave your address and you will be first to hear, before anyone is asked to pay.

A year of reading, for Christmas.

Twelve great books for someone you love, one arriving each month, each wrapped and sealed with its postcard and bookmark. Or three or six months, with a note in your own words.

October 2026 · The gothic month

This month's book.

The first is the pick, the book everyone receives. The other two are alternates for anyone who already has it: swap on your account until the 20th.

Why buy it here

The same book, wrapped and sealed by hand.

  • The parcel as it arrives, with its bookmark
  • The postcard of Dracula’s sky
It keeps the app going
The Daily Canon is one small company in London. Every book bought here pays for the next one in the Library, the read-alongs, and the app staying free to open every morning.
A postcard of its sky
Each book comes with a postcard of the painted scene the app opens on for it, ready to keep or to send.
Chosen, not stocked
Only the classics the app reads, in the Penguin Classics editions we would give a friend. Nothing here is filler.

The read-along

The parcel is the paper half; the app is the rest.

Each month’s book is the one the app reads along in: Dracula to Halloween, A Christmas Carol to Christmas Eve, Moby-Dick through November. The parcel puts the book in your hands; the app holds the chapter a day, the cohort and the conversation.

The read-along add-on is the paper for that: a printed pacing card in the parcel and a letter by email each week of the month. It changes nothing about what the app opens; the read-alongs are the app’s own.

Questions

The usual ones.

Which book?
The one the app is reading along in that month, so the parcel and the read-along are one thing: the chapter-a-day rhythm, the cohort, the conversation. The pick is announced before it is packed; it is a magazine subscription, not a lottery.
When does it ship?
Orders close mid-month. The parcels are packed in one evening and go to the post tracked; a card in the first one says how the months run.
What if I already have the book?
Months with alternates let you swap on your account until the 20th. Otherwise let it come and give it away; a parcel is a nice thing to hand on.
Can I pause or stop?
Whenever you like, from your account. A yearly plan runs its twelve parcels and then stops unless you say otherwise.
Where do you post?
Anywhere in the United Kingdom, Europe and the rest of the world. UK postage is in the price; the other zones add a line for the real postage.
