Ulysses takes place on one ordinary Thursday, 16 June 1904, in Dublin: a young teacher, Stephen Dedalus, and an advertising canvasser, Leopold Bloom, crossing the city from eight in the morning until long after midnight, and Molly Bloom awake in bed at the end of it. Every 16 June, Bloomsday, readers dress up and walk Bloom's route. This gets you there with the book read. The eighteen episodes are cut into forty-three days, so that the longest are taken in parts, and the last words fall on Bloomsday itself.
