A Warning to the Curious

Draw the curtains and keep the lamp lit. This is the ghost story proper: the reasonable narrator, the old house or the rented room, the thing that should not be in the photograph, glimpsed once and then, much worse, glimpsed again. From Hoffmann's sandman to the antiquaries of M.R. James, who really should have left that whistle in the ground, the form runs on curiosity punished. Every story here knows exactly how much to show you, which is almost nothing.

In the app a path keeps your place, marks what you have read, and hands you the next work when you are ready for it.

The first button needs the app on this device; the second gets it there.
