At the barrow of Achilles on the plain of Troy, a traveller in linen calls the dead hero up, and Achilles comes, taller than a man and growing, willing to answer five questions about the war. The traveller is Apollonius of Tyana, who kept silence for five years, refused meat and wool and wine, walked to the Brahmans of India and the naked sages beyond Egypt, and was trailed the whole way by Damis of Nineveh, who wrote everything down.

their wings, as they are wont to do, cried out aloud all at once, for there was somewhat of a breeze blowing in the meadow.
