The book unlocks on your account as soon as you buy it, so the 14-day right to cancel ends once it is unlocked.
Truth is not always in a well. In fact, as regards the more important knowledge, I do believe that she is invariably superficial.
What buying means
- Yours for good, on every iPhone you sign in to.
- Read in the app’s own reader, with the original beside the translation where there is one.
- Downloaded, so it reads with no signal.
- The same price as in the app. Folio already opens every book on this shelf; buying keeps this one after Folio ends. A refund takes it back.

About the book
A man is led down into the catacombs by an enemy who has poured him too much wine, the bricks already mortared in his future, the carnival rising overhead. Edgar Allan Poe died in 1849; this single volume, first compiled in 1902, gathers in one binding the tales and the poems on which the American gothic was founded. Here are the cracking house of Usher, the beating heart beneath the floorboards, the swinging pendulum in the Inquisition's pit, the masque interrupted by the red plague, and the orangutan in the Rue Morgue. Here too are the raven on the chamber door, Annabel Lee in her sepulchre by the sea, and Ulalume's misted October wood. The whole volume is one long threnody for what cannot be buried.
