A country doctor climbs the stairs at Baker Street with an old family manuscript in his pocket and a newspaper report of a death. Sir Charles Baskerville has been found at the end of the yew alley of his house on Dartmoor, and near the body were the prints of an enormous hound. The heir is arriving from Canada, someone in London is already following him, and Holmes sends Watson down to the moor to watch over him and report. Conan Doyle's most famous mystery, told by Watson, partly in his own letters and diary from the moor, one chapter a day for fifteen days.
