Two households in Verona carry an ancient grudge into the streets, and a fortnight before Lammas the only daughter of one meets the only son of the other at a masked feast. Shakespeare packed the whole of it into a few hot days of high summer, and this read-along gives it that summer back: one scene a day for twenty-four days, through the five acts, ending on Lammas Eve, Juliet's birthday. The Chorus tells you in its first fourteen lines how it ends, and the play still pulls you through as if it might not.
