The book box

A great book, every month, by post.

The classic the app is reading that month, in the Penguin Classics edition, wrapped and sealed by hand in London with a postcard of its sky, a bookmark and a letter. £25 a month, UK postage in.

A year of books for someone you love.

Twelve parcels, one a month, the first in time for Christmas. A present that keeps arriving long after the paper is in the recycling.

The book box laid out on a table

Why buy it here

The same book, wrapped and sealed by hand.

  • The parcel as it arrives, with its bookmark
  • The postcard of Dracula’s sky
It keeps the app going
The Daily Canon is one small company in London. Every book bought here pays for the next one in the Library, the read-alongs, and the app staying free to open every morning.
A postcard of its sky
Each book comes with a postcard of the painted scene the app opens on for it, ready to keep or to send.
Chosen, not stocked
Only the classics the app reads, in the Penguin Classics editions we would give a friend. Nothing here is filler.

The Parcel

A book a month, by post.

One parcel a month: the month’s book in the Penguin Classics edition with everything the parcel holds, £25 a month. The pick is announced; you can swap it. A lovely thing to give.

  • The month’s book is announced in advance. Swap it for one of two alternates until the 20th.
  • Monthly or yearly. Pause or stop whenever you like.
  • A gift of three, six or twelve months, with a note in your own words.
  • The month’s classic, the Penguin Classics edition, in a rigid mailer.
  • Wrapped in our tissue and sealed rather than taped.
  • An ex libris stamp pressed into the title page, with a line for your name.
  • A bookmark embossed with the mark, made for us by Mount Street Printers in London.
  • A postcard of the book’s own sky, the painted scene the app opens on.
  • A short letter from Henry about the book and the month.

How it works

Two ways to own a book.

Moby-Dick open in the reader at Chapter 1, Loomings, with "Call me Ishmael." lifted off the page

Digital

  • Yours for good, on every iPhone you sign in to.
  • Read in the app’s own reader, with the original beside the translation where there is one.
  • Downloaded, so it reads with no signal.
  • The same price as in the app. Folio members already read every book on this shelf; buying keeps one after Folio ends.
Dracula (Penguin Classics), the paperback

Physical

  • The Penguin Classics edition, new, in the Daily Canon parcel.
  • Packed in London and posted anywhere. Postage by zone at checkout: the United Kingdom, Europe, the rest of the world.
  • Ten editions to begin with, more as the shelf grows.
